Away Status on the Interactions page allows teachers to block a student from being selected. This means that students who are marked as Away will not be able to receive behavior logs especially when the Whole Group card or the Select Multiple/All features are used.
To mark a student as Away:
Click the grey X in the top left corner of the student card.
When the X is clicked, the student’s card turns grey and becomes unselectable for recording new behaviors.
To remove Away status:
To make a student available for receiving behavior logs again, simply click the blue plus sign (+) in the top left corner of the student card. The card will become white again and be able to be selected as usual.
Important additional notes about using Away status:
- Away status selections will persist ONLY for the current date, current staff member, and current group. If the staff user logs out and then logs back in during the same day, Away status will remain. If a staff user has access to multiple groups that contain the same student, the student will NOT automatically be marked as away in all of the user's groups. Away status also does NOT transfer to the Kickboard mobile apps.
- Regardless of settings for the previous day, all students will be reset to active overnight.
- Students set as Away by one staff member will NOT appear as Away for other users on Kickboard. Settings apply only to the user who sets them.
- Away status is NOT connected to attendance records. Away status can be set by each individual staff member as needed, but this does not equate to marking a student as absent in Kickboard or any Student Information System (SIS).
