Kickboard now offers simple monthly social-emotional learning (SEL) and climate surveys for real-time student feedback. Our monthly survey tool can help you better understand the whole child and improve progress monitoring capabilities.
Students will access their monthly surveys through the Student Portal. If you have not set up the student portal yet, click here for instructions.
In order for students to begin taking the monthly surveys, a Kickboard Admin must enable surveys in the school settings menu (this setting is off by default). They can access this page by going to Settings > Site and School Settings > Schools, then clicking the orange pencil icon to edit the school. Under “Other Settings” check the box for Enable Student Surveys then click "Update School.”
Survey Structure
Surveys will be available to be taken once each month by each student in 3rd through 12th grade. Surveys run from the 1st to the 10th of the month and are available from September to May
The month's questions are based on a 3-month cycle that assess 3 different SEL and Climate categories each month. The cycle schedule, categories, and survey statements are listed in the table below. Students will respond to each statement on a scale of "No, never" to "Yes, all the time".
Questions on Kickboard’s Student SEL and Climate Surveys are sourced from researched-based, widely used, open-access surveys, including: American Institutes for Research Conditions for Learning Survey, California Healthy Kids Survey, School Climate for Diversity Scale, and U.S. Department of Education School Climate Survey.

Administration of Surveys
When students access the student portal on the web or via the app when a survey is available, a window will appear with the student survey. The student will have the ability to respond to the survey immediately or opt to take it later. If the student clicks the "Later" button, the student will be prompted to complete the survey each time they open the app for up to 10 days after the survey start date.
Note: Survey responses are completely anonymous. No identifying information (such as name, birth date, ID number) is saved with the survey responses.
