This article will explain how an hourly consequence roster works as well as how to:
- Mark attendance (hours served) for the consequence roster
- Print character reports for students on the consequence roster
- Export a list of students on consequence rosters
Note: Any user with staff access to Kickboard (Teacher, School Admin, or Kickboard Admin) has access to consequence rosters and can manage them the same way.
Hourly consequence rosters track how many "hours" (or units) of time a student needs to serve. Students can accrue multiple hours and serve them one-by-one. For instance, if a student earns a half hour of Friday Detention every time s/he is tardy to school, s/he may have 3 units of time to serve on Friday (of a half hour each). If she only ends up serving 2 units of time on Friday, you can mark that on the roster, and the remaining unit will remain for the student to serve at a later date.
To view your consequence rosters, go to Culture > Consequence Roster. Select from the dropdown which consequence roster you'd like to view.
The Hourly consequence roster will provide you with the following information:
- the student's last name
- the student's first name
- the student's grade level
- the student's default group
- the staff member who recorded the behavior that triggered the student on to the roster
This column will indicate how many "hours" (or units) a student has left to serve.
If the hourly roster was configured to display hours to serve today and additional hours earned in separate columns in the consequence settings, you will see these two columns on your consequence roster. The "Hours to Serve Today" column will display a tally of any hours the student accrued before the current day. The "Additional Earned Hours" column will display a tally of any hours the students has accrued on the current day.
Once a student has served one or more hours (or units) of the consequence, you can mark this in the attendance column.
Click on the dropdowns under Attendance to select how many hours (or units) the students have served.
Then click the green Record Hours Served button at the bottom of the roster.
The number in the Hours to Serve column will decrease to reflect your selections. If the selections brings the number in the Hours to Serve column to 0, that student will be removed from the consequence roster.
If the student did not serve the consequence and you'd like to add an additional hour to the Hours to Serve column, select Did Not Serve: +1 Hour option from the dropdown. This will increase the number in the Hours to Serve by one.
Print Character Reports
If you click on the Print Character Report button at the top of the screen, you will be taken to the Character Reports screen that will include character reports for only the students currently on the consequence roster. Please note that if you change the date range on the Character Report page after clicking this button, the selected group of students from the consequence roster will not persist.
Export Consequence Rosters
Clicking the blue Export button at the top will create a spreadsheet of all students on any consequence roster on the site for the current date, not just the consequence roster you're on when you click Export.
