This article will explain how a fixed day consequence roster works as well as how to:
- Add a note for a student on a consequence roster
- Mark attendance for the consequence roster
- Delete a record from the consequence roster
- Add a student manually to the consequence roster
- Print character reports for students on the consequence roster
- Export a list of students on consequence rosters
Note: Any user with staff access to Kickboard (Teacher, School Admin, or Kickboard Admin) has access to consequence rosters and can manage them the same way.
To view your consequence rosters, go to Culture > Consequence Roster. Select from the dropdown which consequence roster you'd like to view.
Fixed Day Consequence Rosters Overview
Fixed Day consequence rosters are useful if students are serving consequences on specified days or the week and if they don't need to remain on the roster for longer than one day.
On a Fixed Day consequence roster, you'll see a calendar date function above the list of students.
This is because at the end of each day, students on the roster are automatically archived for that day, making it so that no student will remain on the roster beyond a one-day time period.
To see who was on a roster on a particular day, you can select a date on the calendar and the roster for that day will appear. You can look at past, current, or future dates.
The Fixed Day roster will provide you with the following information:
- the student's last name
- the student's first name
- the student's grade level
- the student's default group
- the staff member who recorded the behavior that triggered the student onto the roster
The information in the Reason column will be determined by how the trigger works. In this example, any behavior recorded from the Character category triggers students onto the After School Party consequence roster. "Bravery" is the name of one of the behaviors in the Character category. When "Bravery" was recorded for these students, they were triggered onto the After School Party consequence roster.
If a student is triggered onto a Fixed Day roster but is already on the roster for that day, an additional reason will appear in the Reason column or the number next to the reason may increase, but the student's name will not appear twice. Also, the name of only one staff member--the person who most recently recorded the behavior that triggered the student onto the roster--will appear in the Staff column.
Add a Note
In the Notes column, you can provide additional context by including a note.
Type the note in the empty field and then click the button to save it.
The note will remain next to the student's name and anyone who views the consequence roster will be able to see it. These notes are logged as "Flag Related Notes" in students' behavior records and can be seen on the Daily Activity page along with other daily records, so they can be a good way to communicate details about a consequence back to classroom teachers.
Mark Attendance
In the Attendance column, the default selection is Present, but you can select Absent to indicate whether or not a student showed up to serve a consequence. This record will not remove the student from the roster nor add them to a future roster, but anyone who views the roster for that day will be able to see what was attendance option was selected.
Permanently Delete Consequence Record
Clicking the "X" to the far right of the student's row will remove the student from the roster and completely delete any record of the student being on the consequence roster. Only click this button if the student is on the roster by mistake. Remember, students will automatically be archived by the system after a one-day time period, so you don't need to do any work to remove them from the roster once the consequence has been served.
Also, deleting the student from the consequence roster will not delete the behavior record(s) nor restore any dollars/points that may have lead to them being added to the consequence roster. Those records must be deleted from the Daily Activity page or the Culture Analysis page. On the other hand, deleting a triggering behavior record will remove the associated consequence record and take the student off of the roster at the same time.
Manually Add a Student to the Consequence Roster
To manually add a student to a consequence roster, click the green Add Student to Roster button.
Select a group the student is in from the "Select a group" dropdown.
Select the student's name from the "Select a group first dropdown."
In the Reason text field, type the reason the student is being added to the consequence roster.
Select the date of the consequence roster onto which the student should be added.
Click the green Add Student button.
Print Character Reports
If you click on the Print Character Report button at the top of the screen, you will be taken to the Character Reports screen that will include character reports for only the students currently on the consequence roster. Please note that if you change the date range on the Character Report page after clicking this button, the selected group of students from the consequence roster will not persist.
Export Consequence Rosters
Clicking the blue Export button at the top will create a spreadsheet of all students on any consequence roster on the site for the current date, not just the consequence roster you're on when you click Export.
