Courses/Skills: Difference between mastery and growth courses

A mastery course is for teachers who want to track students' progress on different standards or skills. For example, a class that is aligned to the Common Core State Standards would be a mastery class. So would a class that is aligned to a rubric, such as 6+1.

A growth course is for teachers who want to track and measure student progress on a leveled assessment throughout the year. This is typically a reading assessment, such as Fountas & Pinell, STEP, or DRA. You can configure Kickboard to measure progress on any type of leveled system. Currently, levels and corresponding grade levels have been added as default settings for STEP, Lexile, Fountas & Pinell, DRA, and Gates-MacGinitie (vocab and comprehension).
