Every student in Kickboard must have one group that is marked as his/her default group. The student's default group appears on certain reports and analysis tools throughout Kickboard. You are also able to batch print student reports by default group. For this reason, many schools choose to make all students' homeroom groups their default groups.
You can change students' default groups one student at a time or for many students at once.
To Change an Individual Student's Default Group:
- Go to Students > Roster
- Click the orange bar graph
next to the student's name.
- Click the Edit button.
- Click Change Default.
- Select the student's new default group from the dropdown.
- Click Set Default.
To Change Multiple Students' Default Groups:
- Go to Students > Roster.
- Click the green Add or Upload Students button.
- Click Download Student Roster Export. This will open your student roster in a .csv file in Excel.
Next, change the group name in the Group column for each student whose default group you'd like to change:
Once you've made these changes, save your file as a .csv, then:
- Head back to Kickboard and go to Students > Roster.
- Click the green Add or Upload Students button.
- Click the Upload button.
- Click the Choose File button and select your saved file.
- Leave the options set to Kickboard Export and Update Only. Don't worry, you’ll be able to review these changes before confirming them.
- Click the orange Upload button.
- You will see a list of all the changes you made on the spreadsheet. If everything looks good, click the green Confirm Changes button
at the bottom of the page.
NOTE: Changing the default group for the students does not remove them from the group that was previously marked as their default group.
