First: Kickboard finds the average of all assessments within a category.

Quiz Average = (70% + 90%) / 2 = 80%

Homework Average = 80% / 1 = 80%

Second: Kickboard uses the predetermined weights for each assessment type to calculate the final overall course grade.

Final Grade = (.80 * .60) + (.80 * .40) = .80

Final Grade = 80%

How to Select a Grading Formula

Step 1: Navigate to Settings > Academics >Courses/Standards

Step 2: Select the orange edit pencil icon next to the course whose grading formula you wish to change

Step 3: Below the “Grading Formula” heading, use the drop down menu to select your “Category Weight by Assessment”

Step 4: Adjust category weight to your desired percentages

Step 5: Scroll down to the bottom of the page and select the green Update Course button

NOTE

Once a new formula is selected, all historical and future grades, with the exception of report cards, will update based on the newly selected grading formula. Historical report cards will only update if they are rebuilt, but newly generated report cards will use the currently grading formula.
