Purchase Mode
Purchase Mode is a tool that will display your students’ bank balances and allow you to easily record bank purchases for your students as a part of a school store or PBIS reward system.
Turn On Purchase Mode
On the Interactions page in Kickboard Next, click on the settings cog in the top right to open the Actions list. Under Kickboard Actions, you will see a button labeled Purchase Mode if the points banking system is enabled for your school. Click this button to activate Purchase Mode.
When Purchase Mode is on, the dollar or point balance on the student cards will update to show their yearlong bank balance (i.e. the amount of dollars or points they have available to spend for the current school year). There will be an orange banner at the top of the screen to remind you that purchase mode is on.
Track Purchases in Purchase Mode
When Purchase Mode is enabled, you can record purchases the same way you would record a normal behavior interaction. Click on any student card to open the Add Behavior window. The Add Behavior window will also have an orange banner reminding you that you are in Purchase Mode. Only behaviors tagged as bank purchases will appear in the list of options. You will also see the selected student’s bank balance listed at the top of the window.
To record a single purchase, just click on the item (typing in a note first if desired). To record more than one purchase, click Select Multiple then select all the purchase behaviors you need. Click Add X Behaviors to record the selected purchase behaviors at one time.
NOTE |
In order to match the exact amount spent by a student, you may need to use a combination of multiple Bank Purchase behaviors. For example, if a student purchases an item for $85 and you do not have a Bank Purchase behavior in the amount of $85, you can assign the student a $50 purchase, $25 purchase, and $10 purchase to add up to the $85 total. |
You will not be allowed to record a purchase that costs more than what remains in the student’s bank balance. If recording for more than one student at the same time, each one of the selected students must have enough in the bank for the selected purchases to be made.
Track Purchases with Student Profile Search
If you are running a schoolwide school store, you can use the universal search feature at the top of the screen to easily find any student’s profile. Just be sure to enable Purchase Mode on the interactions page first, then search for students as needed. On the student profile page, use the Add Purchase button to record the student’s purchases.
Turn Off Purchase Mode
To turn off purchase mode, simply click Cancel in the orange banner. You can also click the Purchase Mode On button in the Actions panel to reset it to regular interactions mode.
